Women in Television
This week in class we discussed what we would like to see women in television discuss. When asked this I automatically thought, a woman that doesn't require a man to survive. In almost every movie or show that comes out these days there is a main female character that thrives for attention from some male figure. These shows never discuss actual issues females encounter.

These shows or movies make it seem like girls just sit around all day waiting for their dream man to come sweep them away. Or they just sit with their friends talking about a guy. But in reality this doesn’t really happen. I know personally my friends and I definitely do talk about boys; however that’s not all we do. These shows don’t show the stressors in our lives to be successful in school, or to make our families proud or to keep a close group of friends. When was the last time a show discussed something about a woman’s period, never, because it’s not considered to be interesting or something we are supposed to be talking about. I've also never seen a show that focuses on a female going through school and getting a successful job without always thinking about a husband and family. For some women those are their dreams but for others it is different but we never see those different life goals.
